Prodways, the subsidiary of Groupe Gorge, are set to announce a strategic partnership with A.Schulman to strengthen its laser sintering powder range at the upcoming FormNext event.
The partnership has been struck in a bid to achieve greater and faster developments of new industrial applications.
As an active participate in the development of materials, Prodways is looking to accelerate innovation with the support of A. Schulman. 3D printing manufactures, Prodways, hope the partnership will bring about new and improved materials with enhanced mechanical properties.
Both parties are seeking to work with industrial and high-value companies to develop customised solutions for their needs in a wide range of markets. They will also be using their Research and Development teams to continually find technical solutions, identify improved manufacturing processes and propose materials that will enhance industrial growth.
Technology CEO of Prodways, Alban D’Halluin, believes his company can use the experience of A.Schulman to meet the increasingly demanding application requirements of additive manufacturing.
He said: “A.Schulman’s broad understanding of plastics, special technical and manufacturing expertise, and deep experience with all powder additives and modifiers helps optimise the performance, appearance and processability of polymers to meet the most demanding application requirements.
“By partnering with A.Schulman, Prodways will access state-of-the-art compounding know-how to develop materials which are economical, reliable and whose mechanical properties are not yet reachable with 3D printing.”
Based in Akron, Ohio, A.Schulman is an international supplier of high-performance plastic compounds and composites. Their materials are often used as raw materials in a variety of different markets, including additive manufacturing. The company’s principal product lines also consist of masterbatch solutions, colour concentrates and additives that improve the appearance and performance of plastics.
Prodways believe the affiliation makes another step forward in their innovation strategy to promote the development of new applications and to become a key provider of laser sintering solutions.
