LimitState Ansys TCT Show
A still of the aerial mount, a stress analysis simulation imminent.
Earlier this month, ANSYS launched Discovery Live, its instant simulation software solution, and made it freely available until January 2018.
LimitState, itself a developer of analysis and design software applications, is among the first to open up about its experiences of the Discovery Live platform, and what’s more, the company will hosting a demonstration at TCT Show from Stand A39.
The demo will show how Discovery Live can work in tandem with the LimitState:FORM rapid design optimisation software tool, which uses layout optimisation rather than topology optimisation to efficiently identify strong and light truss forms.
Matthew Gilbert, LimitState’s Managing Director, announced the news on his LinkedIn page, before going on to give his thoughts on the Discovery Live tool. Gilbert said he has been impressed with Discovery Live in use, and with the right pricing strategy expects it to become an ‘invaluable tool’ for designers. LimitState has released a short video to preview its demonstration next week. It shows the real-time simulation of an aerial mount, starting with a design volume, load and supports, and also including various designer interactions.

“ANSYS Discovery Live is a new tool which allows the influence of a change in geometry on properties such as stresses of flow pattern to be seen immediately,” Gilbert’s post begun. “I’ve seen real-time stress analysis demonstrated in limited form in the past, but ANSYS has moved things along significantly.
“Even at this early stage it is clear that fast design optimisation coupled with real-time simulation provides a really potent combination. In future, tighter integration will hopefully be possible.”
LimitState will demo the Discovery Live supported by LimitState:FORM from Stand A39 at TCT Show. Meanwhile, ANSYS will also be showcasing the full capabilities of its latest software product at Stand F8. TCT Magazine spoke to ANSYS’ Justin Hendrickson ahead of the launch of Discovery Live, learning the motivation behind the platform and how designers can benefit from it.
