Shanghai Union Technology has agreed a partnership in principle with Somos to promote its stereolithography (SLA) materials.
It accompanies the expansion of UnionTech’s SLA equipment sales in the American and European markets.
UnionTech has been an active distributor for DSM's Somos SLA materials in China since 2003. The company belies the combination of Somos stereolithography materials and UnionTech SLA equipment is a well established 3D printing solution with over 600 UnionTech SLA installations globally.
Based upon the successful expansion of UnionTech into the European and Americas marketplace last year, an agreement in principle has been agreed to facilitate distributors of UnionTech SLA equipment to better provide a ‘one stop 3D printing solution’. The partnership will be non-exclusive and covers all Somos materials available for both UnionTech's PILOT commercial series and RSPro production product lines.
"We are proud to work very closely with the Somos group, combining our fully open hardware platform technology with their constant innovation in resin development," states Barry Tsou, UnionTech's President. "Working together on open platforms brings huge benefits in developing materials that meet the criteria of our customers needs directly."
Meanwhile, UnionTech has also announced the release of a new additional software option for the PILOT series. UnionTech believes SLA offers the greatest versatility of performance capabilities and application, and hopes to reinforce this with its PILOT series and new software.
The in-house developed PolyDevs software is said to be a cost-effective option for data preparation for printing on the PILOT series equipment. It enables users to import and export CAD data, repair files, perform mesh editing, generate support structures, and prepare slice data.
