Massivit opens facility in Barcelona to support RapidWings platform

Massivit has opened the company's first Europe-based Service Centre in Barcelona, Spain, as part of its recently launched RapidWings manufacturing platform.

RapidWings is based on Massivit's proprietary Cast-In-Motion (CIM) technology and is designed to speed up production lead times for composite tooling.

This new service centre facility will produce on-demand tooling in support of the end-to-end RapidWings platform, supporting customers in aerospacr and defence.

RapidWings and this new facility have been established in response to market requirements for on-demand manufacturing. Massivit has endeavoured to focus on high-speed tooling, with moulds, masters, mandrels, jigs, fixtures, and prototype tooling all areas of interest. Its aim is to reduce traditional tooling lead times from months to days, and help manufacturers overcome existing backlogs.

Massivit's Cast In Motion digital tooling technology will be a core part of the Barcelona site, with the Service Centre promising a 'seamless workflow from digital CAD design through 3D-printed tool to final machined part.' Unlike conventional tooling methods that involve modelling foams, tooling boards, or 3D-printed thermoplastics, CIM technology is said to deliver isotropic tooling that provides exceptional dimensional stability, thermal resistance, adhesion, and surface quality, making the tools suitable for autoclave and a range of temperatures. The moulds can withstand hundreds of cycles, according to Massivit, thereby responding to the immediate demand for mass-production of drones, airframes, and composite structures.

In addition, the Service Center is intended to serve as the first step for future deployment of global RapidWings service and production centres, which will be operated independently or through a third-party cooperation model (Joint Manufacturing Alliance network).

Yossi Azarzar, CEO of Massivit, said, "The establishment and operation of the service center in Spain is a milestone in Massivit’s business transformation and in the transition to the implementation of our international expansion strategy. Europe, led by the sovereign aviation and security markets, is currently facing unprecedented bottlenecks in supply chains. With our technological manufacturing platform, we enable customers to shorten tooling production times from months to just a few days, while maintaining full operational control and cost savings.

"The Barcelona Service Centre is just the first step in building a global network of service centers and manufacturing facilities in other dominant markets, and we are confident that it will be a strong growth engine to establish us as a key and important link in the international supply chain in the coming years, while creating value for all stakeholders in the company."
