Modix Modular Technologies has launched the MAMA-1000 large-format 3D printer, a more compact version of its MAMA-1700 platform.
The MAMA-1000 boasts a 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 mm build volume and, like Modix's MAMA-1700 and XL3000 machines, supports both pellet and filament feedstock thanks to interchangeable print heads.
Filament is said to be ideal when tighter tolerances and finer details are needed, while pellets offer higher throughput and lower material cost per kilogram. This dual capability, Modix says, makes the MAMA-1000 well-suited for end-use parts, functional prototyping, tooling, moulds, and large-format production. The company expects it to help users balance print quality, speed, and cost within a single modular platform.
Modix also says the new solution will make it easier for manufacturers, research institutions, product developers, and fabrication teams to adopt large-scale additive manufacturing in a footprint that 'better matches their production needs.'
Like the MAMA-1700, the MAMA-1000 supports a range of optional add-ons and accessories, including air filtration, dual-head configuration, pellet drying, pellet mixing, and other upgrades that help tailor the system to specific applications and workflows.
“The MAMA-1000 is an important expansion of our MAMA family,” said Shachar Gafni, CEO of Modix. “Not every customer needs the full size of the MAMA-1700, but many still want the unique flexibility of combining pellet and filament extrusion in one professional system. The MAMA-1000 answers that need by offering a more compact format without compromising on versatility.”
