StandardFlow launches to automate mapping of engineering evidence with technical standards

StandardFlow has launched its AI-powered standards compliance automation platform for regulated manufacturing, with an initial focus on additive manufacturing.

The platform has been developed to automatically analyse engineering documentation and compare it with technical standards to identify compliance gaps. It then generates source-linked assessments to ‘accelerate qualification preparation.’

StandardFlow believes it will address ‘a major bottleneck’ within industrial 3D printing adoption across several sectors. Per the company, qualified AM parts are often ‘blocked by proof’ rather than the printing process, with suppliers struggling to map engineering evidence to applicable technical standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. Such ‘mapping’ is typically a manual task, so StandardFlow has sought to develop an analysis engine that evaluates engineering evidence, such as material certificates, build reports, and inspection records, against standards requirements.

The platform is said to be able to identify missing documentation, conflicting specifications, outdated revisions, and other qualification risks, as well as provide source citations and confidence indicators. It can also recommend corrective actions. All of this work is automated, but engineers are kept in control of final review and approval.

Another feature of the StandardFlow platform is its built-in library of publicly accessible standards. Users are also able to upload additional standards and qualification documents for automated analysis. The company is currently in active discussions with standards development organisations to expand the library through licensing partnerships for proprietary standards.

“Industrial AM cannot scale on manual evidence-to-standard mapping,” said Michael Molitch-Hou, co-founder and CEO of StandardFlow. “We are building the missing qualification layer that sits between engineering evidence and standards authority. Our mission is to automate the most labour-intensive aspects of qualification, transforming complex engineering data into traceable compliance assessments and actionable roadmaps that allow production to move at the speed of innovation.”

StandardFlow is advised by Uli Langer, an AM executive and entrepreneur whose experience with the likes of AM Ventures and AM Turbines has seen him work across 3D printing, venture development, and technology commercialisation.

“Large corporations often have entire departments dedicated to understanding the latest standards and ensuring compliance,” Langer said. “Smaller companies typically don’t have those resources, even though they face the same requirements. StandardFlow has the potential to make that process significantly more accessible and manageable. I think it addresses a very real need in the market.”
