Phase3D and Phillips Federal are partnering up to make Phase3D’s advanced manufacturing inspection technology more accessible to defence organisations across North America.
Phillips Federal will now serve as Phase3D’s exclusive Channel Partner for the North American defence market, enabling Phase3D to extend its existing defence work across more organisations and manufacturing locations. That work already includes the U.S. Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Danville, Virginia, and the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing.
“Phase3D has had good early success in defence, but there is a limit to how many organisations a company our size can reach and support on its own,” said Michael Brennen, Commercial Director at Phase3D. “Phillips has the relationships, manufacturing experience, and team to help us do that at a much larger scale. For customers, it means there is now a trusted defence partner they already know who can bring Phase3D inspection technology into more depots, bases, laboratories, and manufacturing programs. The end goal is simple: catch defects sooner, waste less machine time and material, and get more usable parts through the same equipment.”
Phase3D develops in-situ inspection technology that detects defects in real time throughout the manufacturing process. By identifying problems as they occur rather than after a build is complete, Phase3D helps manufacturers avoid wasted material and machine time, increase throughput, and reduce the overall cost of manufacturing. Earlier this month the company announced the Department of the Air Force-supported extension of its Fringe Inspection platform into ceramic matrix composites (CMCs), thought to be 'increasingly central' to next-generation propulsion, hypersonic, and thermal-protection systems.
